Partnerships For Change seeks to strengthen community alliances and empower individuals to achieve their full potential. In view of the crippling costs of social and domestic violence, school drop-outs rates, drug abuse, teen pregnancy and a reduced and demoralized workforce, we offer media projects, community participant-centered conferences and public awareness campaigns. Community Summits demonstrate our pro-active, grassroots approach. The Resource Exchange Bank reveals hidden and diverse talents, skills, and resources within a community. We facilitate the exchange of community resources across sectors. Our electronic and in-person Summit catalyzes financial and other resource support, enhances community self-reliance, and builds on-line communities. We support socially responsible media programming. Currently we are developing a companion TV series to accompany publication of our international best-selling anthology, "Heart At Work: Stories to Build Self-Esteem and Re-awaken the Soul at Work", from McGraw-Hill. The book is co-authored by Jack Canfield, Number One New York Times best-selling author of "Chicken Soup for the Soul." The book and the television series for public broadcast will explore the impact of self-esteem in the areas of health, education, crime, business and the economy through inspirational stories. Partnerships For Change is active in shaping development policies. We delivered a U.S. Senate briefing on the economic and social impact of self-esteem and addressed Brazil's 1992 United Nations Earth Summit and the 1993 International Ecological and Urban Planning Conference on Sustainability. In 1994, we organized a Community Summit to catalyze the efforts of the United Nations 50th Anniversary commemorative celebration. In 1996, we organized a national summit for Mikhail Gorbachev to build community among grassroots organizations supporting military base conversion and the prevention of environmental catastrophes. In 1997 and 1998, Partnerships For Change presented at the State of the World Forum on sustainable development and human restoration. In 1999, Partnerships For Change is sponsoring the Healthy Living television series co-starring Jane Seymour. Our President, Jacqueline Miller will be featured in a segment about future lifestyles and Heart At Work. PFC also continues to develop the Eye On Sustainability with the Bay Area Alliance for Sustainable Development.
