Visualization Applications in Earth System Science

Earth system science encompasses a wide range of data types, scales of measurement and degrees of resolution in measuring physical, chemical and biological systems. To accommodate this multi-scale, multi-resolution domain we use a variety of techniques to enable us to both accurately represent observations as well as to convey a sense of the extent and character of the systems under study. This talk will present some examples of the types of visualization used and discuss some of the limitations and issues associated with their use and comprehension.
