Network for Social and Environmental Change to Launch at PLANETWORK Conference

San Francisco, CA- Communities working to better themselves are getting a big boost online. At this week's PLANETWORK conference in San Francisco, Josh Knauer, founder of the EnviroLink Network and GreenMarketplace.com, launches a comprehensive community engine, tailored for groups and individuals who want to make the world a better place.

"Community can be a lot more than bulletin boards and chats", says Knauer.

Network For Change is the next generation on-line community that makes connections with real meaning. Our site allows groups or individuals to set up and publish custom-built websites specifically tailored to their environmental and social issues and interests, then, take email, chat, and bulletin boards to the next level with real networking.

Users select from more than 45 environmental and social change topics to customize their communications and information resources such as in-depth news, articles, events, and links. By issue or by region (or both), users can connect with others, raise funds, get a job, find events and even spot potential polluters. With free web hosting, Knauer calls Network for Change a "one-stop shop for those who want to make a difference, online and in the real world".

Knauer will demonstrate the power of this concept at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, May 13, at PLANETWORK÷the first worldwide conference exploring the intersection of information technology and global ecology. PLANETWORK features international experts from a wide range of disciplines and vocations: science, technology, business, green politics/activism, and the arts.

PLANETWORK will explore how the creative application of digital tools÷scientific visualization, interactive databases, GIS-based systems and computational modeling, as well as the Internet itself÷can open new possibilities for environmental activism and positive global change.
