About Planetwork

Planetwork is a San Francisco based network using information technology to address the pressing issues of our time - climate change, loss of biodiversity, social & economic justice, and true democracy.

Planetwork convened the first international conference on global ecology and information technology in 2000, beginning a conversation about creating a distributed online social network to empower individuals and civil society, publishing the ASN White Paper in 2003.

Planetwork was founded in 1998 with the recognition that the only phenomenon growing as fast as the global ecological crisis was the global communications system and that with it, we could address the biggest threats facing humanity and the planet.

Anee Schneeman

Executive Director

Anée manages Planetwork programs and fiscally sponsored projects. She is Planetwork’s administrative anchor and accounting point person.

Cofounder & Board Member

Jim is cofounder and CEO Tru Social Inc and JLINC Labs, as well as cofounder of Planetwork. He has decades of experience in sustainable systems design and climate, information technology, digital identity and decentralized internet data exchange.

Software Architect

Victor was a presenter at the 2003 Planetwork Conference, one of the first developers for Identity Commons, and the co-founder of the 2idi i-name service.

Elizabeth Thompson

Cofounder & Board Member

A pioneer in the New York and San Francisco art and culture scenes for almost 2 decades, Elizabeth served as Executive Director of the Buckminster Fuller Institute where she conceived and produced the $100k Fuller Prize for synergetic solutions to global problems for 10 years.

Kaliya Hamlin

Identity Woman - Network Director

Kaliya is one of the leading authorities in the world on digital identity. The World Economic Forum selected Kaliya as a Young Global Leader in 2012.

Brad deGraf

Treasurer & Board Member

Brad is the Founder of the Venture Collective, a 501(c)3 venture fund focused on systemic social change solutions. He is also Director of the Animation Archive for the Internet Archive, as well as investment analyst for digital media for the International Finance Corporation (venture subsidiary of the World Bank), and senior analyst for Jon Peddie Research.
